Gerebek Lumpur in Sunter River Intensified to Stop Water Overflow

Local authorities are conducting mitigation measures to anticipate floods in the rainy season, one of which is through Gerebek Lumpur action. After Mookevart River, this time it is focused on Sunter River, precisely in the front of Rawa Badak Pump with 495 meters long and in the front of Artha Gading with 210 meters long.

According to Yusmada Faizal, Jakarta Agency Head of Water Resources (SDA), it was conducted to prevent flooding in 14 RTs and 15,700 square meters of the nearest area of the dredged watershed (DAS).

"Of course, it will have an immediate impact on all of us," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, on Sunday (10/3).

In the front of Rawa Badak Pump, he had deployed six heavy equipment to the location, starting from three amphibious excavators, two long arm excavators, and one standard excavator.

While in the front of Artha Gading, as many as two amphibious excavators, two long arm excavators had been alerted to the location.

"We also send 18 dump trucks to those areas. It is targeted to dredge up 17,920 cubic meters of mud from Rawa Badak and 8,400 cubic meters from Artha Gading. The mud would be disposed to our dump sites in Beting and Ancol areas," he explained.

It was carried out collaboratively with North Jakarta administration, sub-district and urban village heads, PPSU, North Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency, North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency, North Jakarta Parks Sub-agency, and Water Agency UPK.

"So let's all collaborate to deal with the flood problem in Jakarta. We can start from the simplest, which is not littering," he concluded.
